The Media Literacy Expert Group

The European Commission has been requested to launch an initiative on Media Literacy by the European Parliament and the industry together with a number of Member States. The Commission intends to use the findings of the Media literacy experts group to launch a public consultation on the different issues. The Media Literacy Expert Group aims to analyse and define media literacy objectives and trends, to highlight and promote good practices at a European level and to propose actions in the field.
The group is composed of a number European media literacy experts including a mix of different competences and backgrounds. It will meet three times a year.

- to foster greater clarity and wider consensus in Europe on media literacy and media education;
- to raise the public profile of media literacy and media education in each European nation, and in Europe as a whole.
- to encourage the development of a permanent and voluntary network of media educators in Europe, bound together by their common aims and supported by their institutional commitment.
Alliance of Civilizations

The aim of the Alliance is to support the development of projects that promote understanding and reconciliation among cultures globally and, in particular, between ‘Muslim’ and ‘Western’ societies by means of a network of partnerships. The Alliance works in four program areas to support such projects. These areas are: youth, media, education, and migration.
