Conditions of entry
Please remember that only when there is sufficient information available
about your project will the jury be able to reach a decision. This applies
to all projects!
For ALL projects: After the end of the production phase the Project Description
Form must be completed and should accompany all entries. It can be downloaded

TIP: The shorter the contribution
the better (Videos up to 3 minutes long!). Focus on the theme. Find the
central maxim and make your audio-visual message precise. More in mediamanual
under Main
Ideas/ Research (german only).
Remember too that in order to make
a 3 minute video you and your pupils will need an average of 1 day on
the video editing computer.
Rights
The copyright of all works remains the property of the author/ person(s)
who submit(s) the entry. By accepting the conditions of entry you are
giving permission for the work to be exhibited or presented at mediamanual.at
and that the work itself and photos of /from it (including descriptions
of it) may be publicised in written material, press releases, radio, DVD/CD-ROM
and television.
Technical Parameters:
In order to be able to process and present your project in the best possible
way we recommend the following standards:
Video
Length: up to 3 Minutes, Video Master: DV-Cassettes (Digital Video)
Video Files: AVI, MPEG or Quicktime-Files on DVD/CD-Rom - size: 720 x 576 pixels,
25 frames/sec. for Full Screen Videos, or 320x240 pixels for Multimedia.
Radio
Length: Submissions up to 5 minutes, Master: Mini-Disc, Audio-CD, DVD/CD-Rom.
Audio files: Wav, Aif, Mp3 in 44,1KHz 16 Bit
Multimedia and New media
Data: HTML, Flash, Shockwave, PDF, Power Point, EXE-File
Master: DVD/CD-ROM, Internet
Print Material
Master: Word in rtf format or as PDF-files
Images
Master: as Jpg, GIF, Eps, Psd, PDF, PNG, TIFF
RULES OF ENTRY TO mla

The
best projects submitted will be presented and prizes awarded within
the framework of the mla-presentaton.

Organiser
of the competition media literacy award (mla) is the Federal Ministry
of Education, Arts and Culture.
|
| 3 |
All
categories which, from their content, do not contravene the statement
of principles and guidelines for media education rules drawn up
by the bm:ukk are eligible for the competition.
The following are eligible are: videos, radio programmes, newspaper
articles, essays, studies, scientific work, internet projects,
multi-media projects, social software, games. Genres: drama, documentary, report, culture,
media, commercials, making of, digital storytelling.

Films
on DV, CD-ROM, AVI, Quicktime, MPEG, DVD will be accepted; Publications
und printed works as PDF files; Internet productions in HTML and Flash;
Audio productions on CD, Mp3; texts, images, graphics and posters
in JPEG, GIF, EPS, TIFF, PNG, Word RTF and PDF formats; Animations and Games in Flash format, Shockwave format and Scratch format.

Projects
which are submitted to the competition must have been completed
during the year of entry. Projects which have been submitted to
other competitions are also eligible.

Those
submitting a project agree that the organisers have the right
to show the works entered in the competition publicly within the
framework of the competition (award ceremonies or information
events) and also in internet.

| 7 |
Diplomas
will be awarded for the best results. These will be handed over
to the production teams at a prize-giving ceremony. In addition,
special achievement by an individual pupil may be awarded a prize.

For
the final selection in the categories mentioned in 3) above up
to 3 productions may be nominated. The award of prizes will be
decided by an expert jury.

The
submitted productions must be registered by the end of the school
year. For projects which have requested production support in
the category video, the last day for registration is the 1st of
March.

| 10 |
The
postage/transport and return postage/transport of master tapes,
documents or other data carriers is to be carried out at the cost
and risk of the entrant.

| 11 |
After the end of the competition submitted entries will be returned
to the address given on the registration form, if desirable.
|
| 12 |
The
prize winners will be notified by the end of September of the
next school year and invited to attend the award ceremony.
